The intersection project will add a left turn lane from Broad Street to Doherty Road to improve safety at this high-crash location. Doherty Rd will be reconstructed from W Broad St to Weston Woods Dr with new curbs and a new shared-use path on the west side. A new shared-use path will be installed on the north side of W Broad St. Additional improvements to the intersection will include the installation of a new traffic signal, street lighting. These Vision Zero safety improvements are designed to increase visibility of people walking and biking, slow driver speeds, and better manage traffic flow. Stormwater drainage improvements will be made where necessary.

This location is on the Vision Zero Columbus High Injury Network due to the number of serious or fatal crashes and/or crashes involving vulnerable road users like people walking, biking or riding a motorcycle.
