Traffic Impacts
On Monday, May 4, Phase 1 construction on the Front St and Nationwide Blvd bridge rehabilitation project is expected to start. The Columbus Department of Public Service anticipates final authorization from Norfolk Southern Railroad by then for construction to begin.
During Phase 1, Front St. traffic will be maintained one lane in each direction from Nationwide Blvd. to Hickory St., with access open to the Nationwide Parking Garage, 285 N. Front St. This phase and traffic pattern is expected to last until late summer 2026.
During Phase 2, Front St. will be closed from Nationwide Blvd. to Hickory St. with no access to the parking garage north entrance. Access will be maintained to the garage’s south entrance. A travel lane across the bridge will be made available for special events traffic. Construction is expected to finish by late 2026.
The project team will work to minimize impacts as much as possible to area businesses, employers, residents and event venues while keeping construction on schedule. Use the Stay Informed Subscribe button on the page to receive project updates.
