This project will add a shared-use path along the south side of Tussing Rd from Brice Rd to Hines Rd and provide enhanced pedestrian crossings at Americana Parkway and the Tussing Elementary School. The project will also add sidewalk on the north side of Tussing Rd between John Steven Way and Penobscot Blvd to facilitate access to the enhanced pedestrian crossing. These Vision Zero safety improvements will make people walking and biking more visible to drivers and will safely separate these vulnerable road users from vehicle traffic. Stormwater drainage improvements will be made where necessary.

This project is located on the Vision Zero Columbus High Injury Network due to the number of serious or fatal crashes, and/or crashes involving vulnerable road users like people walking, biking or on a motorcycle. The addition of sidewalks will improve pedestrian safety on this roadway.

It is also located in a Vision Zero Communities of Interest area. Residents in Communities of Interest may have fewer choices about how, when and where they travel, putting them at higher risk as they move around. Extra investment in roadway and other transportation safety improvements may be needed to enhance safety.
