The Whittier Street Bridge project over the CSX and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks is rehabilitating the bridge structure and completing the approach roadway work that is necessary to widen the existing sidewalk to create a new 10-foot shared-use path from Front St going west to the Scioto Audubon Metro Park, connecting to the existing Scioto Trail. A new concrete barrier will separate vulnerable road users on the path, like people walking, biking or scooting, from Whittier St vehicle traffic.

This project is located in a Vision Zero Communities of Interest area. Residents in Communities of Interest may have fewer choices about how, when and where they travel, putting them at higher risk as they move around. Extra investment in roadway and other transportation safety improvements may be needed to enhance safety.
